2019 Summer Camp

1-Week Sessions running from June 17 - August 16

ONE-WEEK SESSIONS Is your child interested in sewing or fashion design? Join me in my Menlo Park studio to learn a great life-long skill and have fun! A one-week camp allows the kids to get a quick introduction or to focus intensively on building new skills.

PROJECT-BASED LEARNING Beginners will make a pair of drawstring pants. More advanced students will be able to make a t-shirt, pants, dress, skirt or anything he or she would like to work on. In the process, your child will learn fashion design concepts and sewing techniques, learn to read patterns, work with different fabrics, drape, hand sew, and even to make alterations. While having fun doing all of this, your child will build useful skills and gain self-confidence.

FEES $400 per student per session (includes materials for drawstring pants; materials for additional projects are the responsibility of the student/parent)

1. To check if there is space for a session email smoroder@comcast.net or call (650) 888-0072.

2. Reserving a place requires a non-refundable $100 deposit per session. Balance is due 1 month prior to start of session.

PERSONALIZED INSTRUCTION Sewing classes and camps for kids and teens in small groups with excellent instruction and personal attention. Students will learn everything they need to know about how to get started sewing simple projects and how to be creative with their own ideas. Beginner options include a pair of comfy lounging pants/shorts and/or a t-shirt. As students become designers, they will also learn more basic machine sewing skills and safety.

SEWING BASICS & TECHNIQUES An essential part of sewing is to understand how to read and interpret a commercial sewing pattern. Classes and camps will teach foundational information about fabrics and cutting. Students will also learn a variety of sewing techniques such as seam allowances, grain lines, pinning, ironing, etc. so that they will have the skills needed to continue working independently.

My goal is to make sewing fun and while teaching the fundamentals.
